When I was born, my parents named me Amy Katherine Williams. It was then that they also decided they would call me Kitty instead. I have been Kitty ever since, but I admire the elegance of “Amy Katherine Williams” so here we are on amykatherinewilliams.com.
J.R.R. Tolkien once said, “It is no bad thing to celebrate a simple life.” Any written bio of me is a celebration of a simple life.
I am a writer with a nostalgic heart. I write at a thrifted desk with an old chair that was my great-grandmother’s. The material is falling off the back of the chair from all the times the cats have used it as a scratching post, but I like it that way. I like old and imperfect things— they have character.
I am in love with the tiny details of everyday life and I am in love with the movies that celebrate those tiny details.
My favorite movies are The Lord of the Rings, anything directed by Edgar Wright, and anything written by Greta Gerwig. This is perhaps the most important thing about me. I think our relationships with movies say a lot about who we are and I started a podcast to explore that.
